Easynet Global Services help customers to drive
business efficiency with new Managed Application Acceleration service
Tuesday, June 30, 2009
Easynet Global Services today announced the launch of its Managed
Application Acceleration (MAA) service. MAA is a fully managed global networking service that enables an Enterprise to drive business efficiency and communications through the optimisation of application performance across a WAN.
Currently 70 percent of Easynet’s largest customers are consolidating their data centres to improve the performance, integrity and security of their IT Infrastructure. MAA has therefore been developed in response to feedback from Easynet’s customers who voiced a requirement
for a service to deliver ‘LAN-like’ performance of applications to their remote branch offices.
Easynet’s Managed Application Acceleration is an optional enhancement of the MPLS IP VPN service, ‘MPLUS’. By utilising MAA, an Enterprise will be able to deliver a ‘LAN-like’ experience to end-users therefore ensuring that staff productivity levels and communication lines are not impacted.
“Data centre consolidation can radically improve efficiency and security, however until now customers have been restricted by poor application performance. I’m very excited that Easynet
can help our customers drive greater efficiency into their businesses in an innovative fashion” says Denis Planat, Chief Operating Officer for Easynet Global Services.
In some instances, the centralisation of applications can result in extremely poor application response times for branch office end-users. MAA aims to solve the effects of high latency and low bandwidth on applications that have been designed to run over a LAN. Such applications include email, file services, printer services, web applications and databases.
MAA is designed into the MPLUS service in an off-path configuration, avoiding any single point of failure on the WAN. This ensures that the network and acceleration functions work together to achieve optimum performance, therefore preserving business continuity.
Easynet lab tests showed that typically the service can accelerate mail and file services by a factor of up to 40 times. Pushed to the limits, lab tests also showed that for 15MB file transfers an acceleration factor of 200 times was possible.
